Saints Christian School’s cricket girls made a strong statement in the North-West schools leagues recently, with both the U/13 and U/19 teams recording emphatic wins as defending champions.
The standout performance came from Siphumelele “Ice Tea” Duma, who delivered a remarkable all-round display for the U/13 side in their clash against Potch Central.

Duma struck an unbeaten 138 runs from 66 balls, carrying her bat through the innings as Saints posted a commanding 233/2 in 20 overs. She was well supported by Leanny Makusha, who added a valuable 64 off 44 balls.
Duma then dominated with the ball, taking 5/14 in 4 overs as Central were bowled out for 90 runs in 18.2 overs, handing Saints a 143-run victory.
She also recently hit an incredible 194 runs to set a new Saints' record.

The U/19 girls also impressed with a 110-run win against KHS in the North-West League of the SA20 schools competition.
Captain Tshegofatso Monyela led from the front with 70 off 49 balls, helping her side to 153/5 in 20 overs. In reply, KHS were bundled out for 43 runs in 13.4 overs, with Gogontle Padi producing economical figures of 4/9 in 4 overs.
Saints Christian School’s u/19 girls will look to continue their early-season form, as they aim to retain the mantle as the SA20 girls’ North-West champions.
